Brooklands FM is a new radio station for north-west Surrey in the UK. We will be applying for a full-time community licence when Ofcom invites applications for London and the south-east in the near future. We have recently completed four weeks of successful internet broadcasts from Addlestone and we have broadcast on FM for two four week periods during 2006 and 2007.
Brooklands FM is run by enthusiastic people from all walks of life, volunteering their time and skills to the station. If you would like to be a part of this exciting venture, please send an e-mail with your background and how you would like to help to info@brooklandsfm.co.uk. You could be involved in presenting programmes and/or helping behind the scenes in production, fund-raising, engineering, publicity, sales, marketing or administration.
Many people have contacted us and we keep them up-to-date with our progress by e-mail. If you would like to receive our e-mailed newsletters just send an e-mail to friends@brooklandsfm.co.uk.
What is Brooklands FM?
Brooklands FM is a community radio station with music from the last 40 years, local news, features, sport and advertising for local firms. Behind the station is a small team of professionals with backgrounds in radio and other media, the same people who brought you Brooklands FM in 2007. To see what we achieved, watch our YouTube video below.
Exciting venture
Alan Timbrell, who is heading the station, says: 'When we're back with a full-time community licence we'll be heard in Addlestone, Brooklands, Byfleet, Chertsey, Shepperton, Walton and Weybridge. It's an exciting venture because we're a radio station aimed just at our local area.
'During last year's broadcast many people from local organisations and voluntary groups or just with something interesting to talk about were interviewed on-air. Many local people presented their own programmes. Local businesses were able to target radio advertising directly at potential customers in their catchment area at affordable rates.
